The Buckeye Institute testifies on energy policy

Joe Nichols Dec 08, 2015

The Buckeye Institute’s Joe Nichols told legislators today that the General Assembly should have authority to approve any carbon emission plan that the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency submits to federal regulators.

Ohio House Bill 349 would accomplish this task, and recent tweaks have made the bill even better that originally proposed.

In testimony today, Nichols said:

House Bill 349 strengthens the partnership between the General Assembly and Ohio EPA in preparing for the Clean Power Plan. The bill rightly requires the Ohio EPA to obtain the General Assembly’s approval before submitting a state plan to the U.S. EPA, which will enhance transparency and accountability in the state’s (carbon emission) compliance process.
