Gus Thompson
Communications Associate and Graphic DesignerGus Thompson is a communications associate and graphic designer at The Buckeye Institute. This integral position specializes in creative services for the entire Institute, including Buckeye’s Economic Research Center and Legal Center. Using his talents as a graphic designer, Thompson works with staff to communicate the benefits of commonsense policy solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing Ohioans and the successes Buckeye has achieved on behalf of taxpayers.
Before joining The Buckeye Institute, Thompson worked as a graphic designer with JUXTA Creative, where he served 16 client brands within a full-service agency environment, collaborating with a team of videographers, art directors, designers, account executives, and digital strategists to achieve client objectives. Thompson gained various forms of design experience and knowledge of the hospitality, industrial services, manufacturing, real estate, and retail industries.
Thompson graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design with a minor in history. During his time at WVU, Thompson’s group won a class competition to collaborate with the West Virginia Humanities Council on the design of the Born of Rebellion traveling museum exhibit. As well, Thompson and a classmate worked with the West Virginia Center for Resilient Communities to design an informative infographic detailing the food networks of West Virginia.
In his free time, Thompson enjoys the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, traveling, playing tennis, trying foods, reading, and watching various sports.
