J. Simon Peter Mizner
Legal FellowJ. Simon Peter Mizner is a legal fellow at The Buckeye Institute. In this role, Mizner assists Buckeye’s public interest litigation efforts that protect people’s rights and promote sound public policy through the courts.
Prior to joining The Buckeye Institute, Mizner served as a judicial extern for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, where he helped draft the court’s judicial opinions and orders. Mizner also worked as a law clerk for Erie Insurance, researching and writing on various topics such as corporate governance, internet privacy, and employment disputes. Mizner also served as a law clerk in the Civil Division of the U.S. attorney’s office for the Northern District of Ohio and in the principal legal advisor’s office at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Mizner received his B.A. (cum laude) from John Carroll University and his J.D. (cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. During law school, Mizner was an executive notes editor on Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine. He also served as the treasurer of Case’s chapter of the Federalist Society. Mizner was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in professional responsibility and earned the highest grade in the Milton A. Kramer First Amendment Clinic for his work defending clients’ constitutional rights.
