Legislation Developed from Buckeye Institute Proposal Passes Ohio House

Oct 24, 2019

Columbus, OH – Rea S. Hederman Jr., executive director of the Economic Research Center and vice president of policy at The Buckeye Institute, issued the following statement after the Ohio House of Representatives voted unanimously to pass Senate Bill 7, which would remove barriers to employment for military spouses.

“Today’s unanimous vote by the Ohio House to pass Senate Bill 7—which was developed from policy recommendations made by The Buckeye Institute—shows that policymakers are committed to helping our military families get back to work by removing needless occupational licensing barriers.

“Buckeye was honored to work with representatives Jim Butler, Rick Perales, and Casey Weinstein, as well as senators Peggy Lehner and Bob Hackett, as they guided this much-needed policy through the legislative process. And we hope the Ohio Senate will act quickly to send this important policy change to Governor DeWine. In doing so, policymakers will send an important message to our military families—Ohio welcomes you and thanks you for your service.”
