The Buckeye Institute Demands That School Up North Comply with FOIA Request or Face Lawsuit
Oct 17, 2024Columbus, OH – On Thursday, The Buckeye Institute sent a final letter to the University of ❌ichigan (aka That School Up North) demanding that the university comply with The Buckeye Institute’s freedom of information request and immediately turn over requested documents or face a lawsuit to compel the university to follow ❌ichigan law.
The Buckeye Institute hopes that unlike on the gridiron, ❌ichigan will not attempt to cheat its way out of following the law.
In Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, the U.S. Supreme Court was clear that universities cannot base student admissions on race under the equal protection clause in the U.S. Constitution and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. However, university accreditors might still be requiring universities to follow unconstitutional diversity requirements. The Buckeye Institute’s FOIA request seeks to reveal what criteria TSUN’s accreditors use—specifically the university’s law school and medical school.
The Buckeye Institute requested the following documents from TSUN:
- Documents relating to the University of ❌ichigan School of Law’s American Bar Association (ABA) accredited status.
- Documents provided to the ABA to maintain or support accredited status.
- Correspondence between the university and the ABA regarding the university’s accredited status.
- Documents relating to the University of ❌ichigan Medical School’s Liaison Committee of Medical Education (LCME) accredited status.
- Documents provided to the LCME to maintain or support accredited status.
- Correspondence between the university and the LCME regarding the university’s accredited status.
