Columbus, OH – Rea S. Hederman Jr., executive director of the Economic Research Center at The Buckeye Institute and vice president of policy, issued the following statement after President Biden’s speech at Cuyahoga Community College.

“President Biden is pursuing policies that threaten economic growth, while creating the largest peace-time debt in American history. Ohio’s economy is recovering and there is bipartisan support to focus on traditional infrastructure such as roads and bridges, as well as modern day infrastructure such as broadband. Rather than pursue the areas where there is bipartisan agreement, President Biden plans to raise taxes while spending trillions of dollars on social programs that have never been considered infrastructure. Large tax hikes to pay for more government spending is a tried and failed recipe for prosperity.”
